Medical negligence by care home

I just have to get this out there in case anyone else is going through the same or similar circumstances as my friend did and didn’t know they might be able to win compensation due to medical negligence by a carer. If you have any questions whatso ever, please contact a Medical Solicitor for more information as they are the experts!

Anyway, on with my story. Well, its actually my friends story. Her husband was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis a couple of years ago, and his health has been gradually deteriorating since. Late last year he had to move out of his own home he’d shared with his wife for the last 14 years and move into a care home for round the clock caring.

When he moved into the care home, there was a mix up in the home giving him rooms and subsequently he was bounced between the day room and a shared bedroom every day for the first couple of weeks. Hardly suitable for a man that had been proud of his own home and liked his own space to still keep a feeling of independence against his terrible illness.

Throughout the mix-up his wife (my friend) was visiting the home daily, and was getting more and more distraught as the days went by with no resolution in sight. Eventually the home managed to get him his own room, and he got back some quality of life. I say some, because by this point the disease was really taking its toll on him, and he was bed-ridden most of the time.

At this point my friend had to return to work to help financially support her husband staying in the care home, so her visiting time was severely limited. Due to the fact he was bed-bound much of the time, he was at high risk of contracting bed sores, but no action was taken to stop this happening.

Two months later he was moved to a different care home, who took great care to help him treat his bed sores and stop him contracting new bed sores. That is the level of respect the first care home should have had for him.

Anyway, my friend contacted a Medical Solicitor, and eventually got the care home to stump up nearly £30k in compensation, which helped pay for him to live the last 6 months of his life in an excellent care home.

After you’ve gotten your legal payout, you could sell house quick and move into a more suitable abode for yourself.
